We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful state with so many neat cities close by. People who don't live her always say, "Oh, you must take the best weekend trips!" Sadly, we don't take advantage at all of all our beautiful state has to offer. In the winter we definitely make the effort to get to the mountains for skiing but in the summer it seems something else in the city is always calling. When we were invited to a wedding in Boulder I turned to Brian and said, "let's make a weekend out of this one!"
We spent the weekend in Boulder at the beautiful St. Julien Hotel which is just a block away from Pearl Street, the famous pedestrian mall full of neat shops and restaurants. We left home early Friday afternoon after dropping miss Roxy at the vet for her first boarding/kennel experience. She did fine. We arrived and checked in to the hotel. It was everything we hoped it would be. Our room was clean and neat and we had a beautiful view of the Flatirons from our window. Since I've been battling a cold for almost two weeks now, I took a little cat nap and then we headed to dinner.
We went to dinner at Frasca. DELICIOUS! If you are in Boulder and would like a wonderful dining experience I would highly recommend going there. I had the heirloom pork tenderloin which was rich and tasty. It honestly tasted like pork tenderloin and bacon all together in one piece of meat.
Saturday we went to brunch at Brasserie Ten Ten with our friends the Meades and indulged in a yummy French brunch. We gave in and tried the beignets with fresh lemon curd which were so tasty. We spent the day walking around and browsing the shops of Pearl Street until we had to get ready for the wedding.
Our friends Dan & Sarah got married in Boulder that weekend. Dan has worked with Brian for years until last year when he departed for bigger and better things in Chicago. He had only met Sarah a short time before that and she took the plunge and headed there with him. Everything couldn't have worked out better! We enjoyed their beautiful wedding and had so much fun! Great food, great friends, awesome band and amazing weather. It couldn't have been a better day (except for maybe our own wedding day!)
